Education

The Division of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics (DGIMG) has received the Multnomah County Health Department's “Community Based Organization Award.”

The DGIMG was selected for its outstanding contributions in promoting the health and wellness throughout the community, which included its collaborative work as a Ryan White Service Provider. Ten other community based organizations were also nominated for the award.

The Ryan White Care Act is a federal program which provides grants to assist uninsured and underinsured persons living with HIV to receive needed medications as well as support services.  These services include assistance with housing, substance abuse counseling, mental health care, case-management, and nursing support. Such services greatly enhance outcomes and survival of this vulnerable patient population.

The Public Health Heroes awards are an opportunity for Multnomah County Health Department and the Board of County Commissioners to recognize deserving people and organizations in the community who support and promote public health.

Among the award criteria for receiving the award:

DGIMG was honored on April 8 at the 11th annual Multnomah County Public Health Heroes Celebration.
