Got drugs? OHSU hosts prescription drug ‘take-back’ event Sept. 26

WHAT:  

OHSU invites the public to safely and responsibly dispose of unused or expired prescription medications as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Take-Back Initiative, which aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications.

There is no cost to turn in medications. Experts will be on hand to answer questions. All donations are anonymous.

Mention you are going to the drug take-back event and your Portland Aerial Tram ride is free.

WHEN:  

Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

DETAILS: 

OHSU experts will accept:

• Expired or unused prescription medications and samples
• Over-the-counter and off-the-shelf medications,
• Vitamins Pet medications
• Medicated ointments and liquid medications
• Needles that are capped and placed in a clean, clear, labeled zip lock bag

OHSU experts cannot accept:

• Thermometers
• Sharps or syringes
• IV bags
• Bloody or infectious waste
• Hydrogen peroxide
• Aerosol cans
• Inhalers
• EpiPens
