March 15 forum: Understanding addiction and recovery

WHAT:
“Reframing Addiction and Recovery” will discuss the portrayal of addiction in physical and behavioral health care settings, the criminal justice system and the general public. Local experts will provide suggestions for addressing individual and structural stigmas, as well as treatment access, from a community-based perspective.
The event is free and open to the public; minors are invited to attend.
WHO:
Hosted by the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health, the forum will feature:
- Honora Englander, M.D., associate professor of medicine and director of Improving Addiction Care Team, or IMPACT, in the OHSU School of Medicine
- Chris Colasurdo, student in the OHSU-PSU School of Public Health and IMPACT peer support specialist. Colasurdo is in opioid addiction recovery.
- Lydia Bartholow, P.M.H.N.P., specialist in substance use disorder and trauma-informed systems of care
