CALENDAR ALERT

WHAT:

OHSU will host a drug disposal event in observance of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

Community members are invited to safely and responsibly dispose of unused or expired medications free of charge. Drive-thru and walk-up options will be available.

OHSU experts will be on hand to answer questions. All donations are anonymous.

Because recycling services will not be available at the take-back event, event participants should consider discarding their empty medication bottles at home in alignment with local waste management and/or recycling guidelines.

DETAILS:

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications. Take Back Day in April 2021 collected 420 tons of unused, expired and unwanted medications across the country, bringing the program’s ten-year total to over 14.5 million pounds safely and responsibly discarded.
